Journey's End is a 7,581 sq ft Engelmann Spruce log estate on 1.71 acres with 150+ feet of Hood Canal waterfront at 14594 NW Tree Top Lane in Seabeck, Washington. It has 3 bedrooms, 4 baths, mooring rights and a 4,000 sq ft shop, and is listed at $4,999,888 by James Bergstrom of Paramount Real Estate Group.

Three years. One craftsman. Hundreds of tons of river rock laid by hand, logs numbered one by one in British Columbia and raised again above the canal. It is the kind of place that does not try to impress you. It just quietly does.

The Build

Craftsmanship the world doesn’t make anymore.

01

Engelmann Spruce, chosen by hand

The logs were hand-selected in British Columbia, then disassembled, numbered and shipped south to be raised again on the banks of Hood Canal. More than 300 yards of concrete went into foundation walls built to outlast the people who poured them.

02

A compass set true north

At the main entrance you cross a hand-laid compass inlay of six hardwoods, set true north. It's the first thing you step on and the idea the whole house is built around.

03

Stone from the Columbia

River rock hauled from the Columbia builds two wood-burning fireplaces. In the great room it climbs to the ridge beam, 38 feet up, under clerestory windows that frame the Olympic Mountains.

04

Warm in every room

Radiant heat runs under every floor, the garage included. The primary suite sits in a log decagon with a 26-foot ceiling and hand-laid matching wood floors.

“Co-listing this home is personal. I grew up here. Every floorboard, every view, every quiet morning on the canal. I know what it took to build, and I know what it gives back.”

A Day at Journey’s End

From sunrise on the canal to twilight by the fire.

The Olympics through twenty feet of glass.

You wake under a 26-foot decagon ceiling of hand-peeled logs. Radiant heat rises through the floors. The Olympic range catches first light, framed by the bedroom windows like a painting hung outside.

Coffee, granite, and a live-edge madrona post.

The kitchen is anchored by a madrona tree pulled from the property itself. Solid cherry cabinets, three sinks, two updated ovens and a walk-in pantry, with Hood Canal in every window above the counter.

Ipe decks. Saltwater air. No one in sight.

Almost 2,000 square feet of Ipe decking reaches out toward the canal. Below, a staircase leads to a private beach where oysters, Dungeness crab, clams and shrimp are still pulled by hand.

Fire, and the slow turn of the day.

Inside, the river rock fireplace climbs three stories to the ridge beam. The canal goes silver, then black, and the stars come on one by one over the Olympics.

“It's not the size of the home, the rocks, or the logs that matter. It's the laughter, the late-night conversations, the meals, the music, the love that filled every corner.”
